Cultivation

The technique of cultivating the Pomegranate is not widespread in the Greek region and up to before 2006, constituted a mystery for the Greek producer and agronomist. Following experimental applications in different areas of Greece in collaboration with Institutes from overseas, our Company pioneering in this sector, is in a position to offer the know-how of pomegranate cultivation.
A. PLANTING AND CULTIVATION

With this support system, all our expert knowledge is conveyed in the most efficient way to the producer. Thus we can anticipate or solve any possible problems surrounding, irrigation, fertilization or pruning, all of which are the most crucial in the cultivation of the plant.
- Development fertilizing is carried out with small doses of nitric ammonia (AN) within the first year of plantation. In the years that follow and on approaching fruit bearing, composite fertilizers are used which are administered through the irrigation system (20-20-20, 12-12-17 + TE etc)
- Plant-protection: spraying with copper preparations in winter and in the duration of summer, two session of spraying with ALLIET to fight against plant deterioration.

- In the second year from planting, we transform the tree into the shape of a cap or bowl.

- Pruning while fruit bearing in the strictest sense of the word does not apply, but only clearing the tree from greedy shoots, offshoots, sprouts etc which aims to achieve better airing and keeping maximum light surfaces of the tree. This work is carried out throughout the duration of summer.
- For good quality fruit, it is desirable to meticulously space out the fruit. Pomegranates bloom in groups of two, three and four flowers, which if they all pollinate, we leave only one fruit.
